Most of our foreign clients never travel for the file itself. Colombian civil procedure has been digital since Law 2213 of 2022: claims are filed online, the court file is electronic and hearings are held by video. A power of attorney granted before a Colombian consulate or apostilled abroad is enough for us to act on your behalf.

Do I need to travel to Colombia to hire a Colombian lawyer?
No. A power of attorney granted before a Colombian consulate abroad, or apostilled in your country and translated by an official translator, allows us to act on your behalf. Court hearings are held by video under Law 2213 of 2022.
Can a foreigner buy property in Colombia?
Yes. Colombian law does not restrict property ownership by foreigners. What matters is the title search over the last ten years, the public deed before a notary, registration at the public registry office, and registering the investment with the central bank where applicable.
Can a foreigner own a Colombian company?
Yes. A simplified stock corporation, known as SAS, can be incorporated with a single foreign shareholder and does not require a Colombian partner. The foreign capital must be registered with the Banco de la República to allow later repatriation of profits and capital.
How are your fees structured?
Fixed fees for closed-scope work, hourly rates for open-ended matters, monthly retainers for companies and success-based fees in recovery matters. The initial assessment is free and every quotation is given in writing beforehand.
How can I verify that the firm is real?
The company is registered in the Colombian Single Business Registry (RUES) under tax ID 901.795.000-1 and with the Chambers of Commerce of Bogotá and Montería. Each lawyer holds a professional licence issued by the Superior Council of the Judiciary, which can be checked in the public National Registry of Lawyers.
